Processing the Election

Our first KUUJAN All Network Gathering in October was a great success. This month, our All Network Gathering falls the day after the end of the election. Join us on Wednesday, November 4 at at 7pm ET (6pm CT) for an evening full of music, reflection, processing and (hopefully) some celebrating! Due to the nature of the content, this All Network Gathering will not be recorded. Register here.

Our All Network Gatherings are the first Wednesday of every month.  All Unitarian Universalists in Kentucky are invited to these free, online gatherings. Here is a preview of the next three:

Democratic Justice Team

Our UU the Vote effort with Kentuckians for the Commonwealth was a great success: 5 Voter Registration phonebanks, 3 Voter Mobilization phonebanks, dozens of volunteers and thousands of calls made.

If you haven't gotten enough phonebanking, you have one more chance. The Voting Rights Campaign is having one last big phone bank Saturday, Oct. 31, 12-3pm ET (11-2pm CT) to let people with felonies in their past know they can vote this election. KUUJAN is one of the co-sponsors. Register here.  Here are the details:

We won the right to vote for 170,000 people with felonies in their past. The problem is that the state of Kentucky never let them know they can vote. Throughout the year, we’ve spread the word and helped people register. The registration deadline has passed, but this weekend we're calling people who are registered to vote (often from long ago) and who did get their right to vote back, but who might not know they can vote in this election.

We'll start with a brief online training at noon and make calls until 3pm ET, but the campaign will stay open through November 3rd, so you can keep calling.

Register here for this special phonebank!

After the election, the Democratic Justice Team shifts from UU the Vote to issues such as gerrymandering and redistricting, expanding early voting in Kentucky, and more. They meet on the fourth Monday of every month at 6pm CT (7pm ET).  Watch our website for details.

Racial Justice Team

Has your congregation talked about the 8th Principle yet? Many congregations in Kentucky have not. The proposed 8th principle states:

We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.

The Racial Justice Team is sponsoring the January 6 KUUJAN All Network Gathering so that congregations can learn more about this important principle and what congregations can do to pass it.

Starting in January, the Racial Justice Team will be meeting at 6pm CT (7pm ET) on the second Monday of the month. Watch our website for details.
